I can proudly report a first: I received my first conference invitation. This could make for a nice experience (possibly. not likely.) and for what it’s worth, a good line on my CV.
This invitation is another first: It is my first invitation to a country where homosexuality* is illegal.
*To be fair: It seems that the understanding of homosexuality in question is male homosexuality, as women famously don’t have sexualities of their own. Unsurprisingly, I couldn’t find any information about whether female homosexuality is forbidden or prosecuted, but I guess probably not. Still – it’d be weird to go all “Well, in that case it’s fine by me!”
